OpenNode cloud platform main components are:

OpenNode bare-metal installer - which will setup private OpenNode cloud node with supported virtualization options and management interfaces

OpenNode Management Server (OMS) - packaged and deployed simply as a VM instance onto OpenNode host (easy install and setup via local opennode cli utility menu). OpenNode Management Server is responsible for a secure communication between cluster nodes via FUNC and libvirt infrastructure and provides RPC API server for GUI, WUI or CLI consoles/client applications.

OpenNode next-generation web-based (WUI) Management Console (codenamed as FuncMAN) - based on Qooxdoo ajax application framework, does not require Java, ActiveX or Flash, provides HTML5 based VM VNC and SSH consoles (SSL encrypted)

Prepackaged and supported IT solutions as VM templates (examples: Zimbra, OpenVPN, SAMBA-LDAP PDC, LTSP, Apache, MySQL, etc.) - together with solution/service management consoles that integrate directly into OpenNode WUI and OMS

OpenNode goals are:

  • to be simple, intuitive and usable
  • to become mainstream solution for creating and managing hybrid (both private and public) cloud based infrastructures
  • to combine strenghts from different (virtualization) technologies and to overcome their weaknesses
  • to become sysadmins „Dream“ console - managing and monitoring physical hosts/hardware nodes, private VM-s and public cloud instances, services inside VM-s
  • to be open and to allow customers pay as they grow
